Yes, Omaha has been good to me for most of my life.
It's funny how the random laws of the universe seem to harmonize from time to time. Or maybe they are always in harmony, but just appear random to skeptical minds?
I had no plans to play poker yesterday.
But Mother Nature had me snowed in due to a huge storm that started late Friday night and carried into almost all of Saturday. The sky was dumping white confetti, prematurely celebrating my warm welcome back to tournaments with my first miniftops final table. There was nowhere to go, and so I decided to grind. My day in sngs was hell on earth, and I managed to blow a great stack in the Miniftops 2 day event with a very uncharacteristic 3 barrel bluff with 3498593459347 chips. All I had left going was the Omaha Rebuy. Turns out it was all I needed.
OMaha Is such a high variance game, that I obviously ran well at key times to get as far as I did. I Binked sweet cards @ sweet times to get that sweet score...with a little bit of skill on the side. =)
I started tournaments back up 10 days ago after my short hiatus, and I had set a goal that by the New Year I would hit a 5k score. Tick*
There were quite a few poker curious members that sent me lots of positive vibes and well wishes on the rail...thank you for all your support!!!
Thank you to Que1620 who told me about the tournament an hour before it started because I had missed it on the schedule, and to the clouds above for the incessant flurry dumping.
This game of poker has a twisted mind. The brutality and injustice most regular tournament grinders feel the majority of times, can be instantaneously softened any given day by Lady Luck. She does show her beautiful face from time to time. Firing consistent bullets of skill at her demonic stare, peels back her toughened layers, revealing her warm interior. Fleetingly so perhaps, but I enjoy the refuge wholeheartedly, when she so offers it.
Many of us second guess ourselves..we doubt ourselves...we lack confidence in ourselves = LOSING FORMULA! At times, I do it too. We talk ourselves into premature losses. If you are registering for a tourament thinking you have no shot...then you're not taking your best shot...and it turns out,you really don't have a shot with that shackling mentality. Seriously... stop wondering if you are good enough and Go for it!! Play your best and believe you can win!!
Tomorrow you can wake up, and play a points satellite, a super satellite or whatever, go on to win a seat into an event, and allow your skill to dance with Lady Luck...and maybe, she will show you her beauty too. This is what I play for. The rush. The fight. The battle. The success. Be inspired.
If you never set limitations on yourself, then in turn, your potential becomes LimitLess.
That is how success is achieved... both on and off the felt.
